Wow. Just wow.
In case you have no idea what I’m referring to:
I don’t know that I would say we want tanking niches. I ultimately am agreeing with what you’re saying, but once we say "tanking niches" players have visions of the DK who parks outside of Icecrown until boss 4, 17 and _31_ (yes, IC is that big).
– Ghostcrawler
So any ideas on the types of bosses we’re going to see in there? Speculation is always fun. Makes me wonder if we’re going to see faction specific bosses. Maybe 6 Horde and 6 Alliance depending on which faction you’re on.
All I an think is that those raid lock out extensions are going to come in real handy.
Say it with me.
Thirty one.
Iron Council = 3 bosses
It will be interesting to see how the 31+ is made up but good to know the instance will keep us busy for a while (assuming they don’t nerf it after the first week)

PUH-LEASE. BRD had 40 encounters. Many optional. Also, after reading the thread it was posted in, it seemed more like a failed topic derailment.
Though for speculation top-to-bottom
(Obligatory after Arthas fight)
The Lich King, Arthas
Arthas Frostwyrm Mount
Archmage Arugal (you KNOW its going to happen)
King of the San’Layn (preceeded by 3-4 bosses before hand)
Val’kyr Queen (Preceeded by Vykul bosses 3-4)
Some form of entrance boss (Corrupted Argent Crusade member or minion of Yogg-Saron)
New Champion of the Lich King (Uber DK boss, c’mon Baron Rivendare)
Nerubian Boss.
Zombie King Terenas?
That’s almost bound to include the hardmodes, surely.

Still think Anubarak should have been one.
Other than that, I’m just looking forward to the Arthas fight.
All other ones are just necessary steps to the ultimate goal!

Mal’Ganis’s last chance to show up once again… Technically… Scarlet Crusade is there to fight LK aswel… I hope one whole wing (or starting area) is their “Advance camp”, is there anyone left in Scarlet group to be redeemed? Defeat Malganis and get Scarlet’s help to fight LK? Afterall Tirion is wielding Ashbringer now… It has lot of connections…
*
Saurfang’s son died in front of Wrathgate.
Bolvar died in front of Wrathgate.
Would love to see them in same encounter… Risen by Arthas…
Ye I know Syndragossa will be there altho cba to fight dragons anymore…
KT? Hopefully not.
Arugal? Defeated twice, but recent stories about Worgens… might get him back into some kind of redemption / Akama style fight.
San’Layn King? With 2 prince encounter before that… Prince Atherann and Prince Theraldis are not seen except on summoning Arugal… so I expect they show up… Or if all their nobles got Prince title from LK himself then don’t expect their king… just 2 princes encounter… Not sure if there is king…
And then we have many high names died from LK hand, most notably High General Abendiss – doubt Blizz will resurect them but still high hopes for lore nerds…
So – TLDR Version
1) Starting Zone – (like siege of ulduar) – Scarlet Grounds – where we fight / redeam Scarlet Crusade… Last boss – Malganis.
Several wings after that:
2) Undead wing – All available LK arsenal we seen in Icecrown, lot of new bosses, last – Dark Knight revealed.
3) Vampire Wing with San’Layn – Last fight 2 princes.
4) Fallen Heroes Wing – for lore nerds. Last fight Bolvar/Saurfang
Sindragosa + LK as last ones…
I really hope he’s kidding.
15 bosses would be a lot to manage in a week.
I’d rather not extend the raid lockouts on a regular basis because people will want their gear. Even now, when we’ve farmed the early bosses of Ulduar for months, a surprising amount of gear is still being used.
It depends a lot on the encounters. Ulduar is a good example of difficult in the beginning but as soon as you have some semblance of how it all works then you mow through stuff.
Naxx had lots of trash, you could easily cut the trash and put a boss in between each boss to get the number they are talking about. I REALLY hope they aren’t saying 16 bosses plus 16 hard modes = 32… which is more than 31.
MMO-Champion also had the following update, “Update Added Recent In-Game Fixes. Also, the 31 bosses thing might have just been a bad joke …” but there is no link to an actual blue post.
Honestly… I srsly doubt there is going to be 31 bosses, and if there is then they are going to use the hard mode cop out.

“More is better” isn’t always a Good Thing.
It could be a internally-tiered dungeon. As in, the first ‘wing’ is T10, the second T11. This would allow them to cram more content into this expansion without running out of location-space.
Disregard :p
Interestingly he only said that a tank wouldent have to wait for those boss numbers to get in, he didn’t say that 31 was the “Maximum” number of bosses in Icecrown there very well could be more then that.
I’m more interested in who the secret boss is going to be, if they play it like Uldular then theres going to be a boss in there which requires hard mode kills to get to and who is stronger then the lich king.
From a lore point of view the only real candidate for a secret boss would be kil’jeaden, but i’m not sure if they will have him reappear just yet especialy since theres almost no legion pressence in northrend.
I would like to think there will be 31 bosses in Icecrown, and that’s not counting Iron Council as 3, for example. I think the next patch will be similar to the current one in that we will be receiving multiple instances. In Call of the Cruade it was a 5-man and a 10/25 raid, but I could see them use gating to roll out a new 5-man followed by a sequence of two or three 10/25 man raids. Make it like the wings of Naxxramas only each wing is an independent raid with 6-10 bosses, all leading up to a final raid with Arthas and his mount.
Basically I want Icecrown Citadel to become the multi-instance epic place that Blackrock Mountain is, just with ice instead of fire and lava.
Still, I think most commenters are correct in guessing this was just mouthing off or exaggeration.
.-= DFitz´s last blog ..Building A Successful Guild Part 1: The Foundation =-.
I hope there’s at least 37 bosses (since there’s at least 31). That’d be epic.
May include multi-boss fights like ya, the Iron Council. Maybe even something like Kara’s Opera or Chess but with mini-bosses. That’s actually wishful thinking more than speculating.
Blue UPDATE:
“I put in the Yogg achievement with what I hoped was a ridiculous stand-in number. Clearly it wasn’t ridiculous enough because players were variously excited or worried that it was a real number.
Then in an example on how we don’t want raids to rotate in tanks, I wanted to pick what I hoped was a ridiculous number so that players wouldn’t try and and deduce from my answer how many bosses Icecrown has.
Sadly, my sarcasm doesn’t translate well to the forums.”
sad panda =(
.-= Xeonio´s last blog ..Rez of the Week – Cerburos =-.
If he wants to use sarcasm and keep the players guessing, then he really shouldn’t put in a qualifying statement (Yes, IC is that big) in his post to make it seem more legitimate.
.-= Beej´s last blog ..True Blood – Wait, Who’s Doing Those Bad Things Again? =-.
I think Blues should go back to what they are good at; being vague and slightly unresponsive and leave the sarcasm to the experts – trolls and disgruntled players. 😛
With that said, I agree with Beej, the qualifying statement is what made the sarcasm get lost in translation.
