There’s been some general apathy going around the WoW community. A lot of players have gotten bored of the game or aren’t quite sure what to do next. It’s as if they’ve reached a roadblock in their WoW career and there’s no where to go, nothing to do, nothing to talk about.
Does this sound familiar?
I could come up with a few ways to beat back this wave of depression, but I was beat to it by PTD a few weeks back (and his post was even highlighted on WoW Insider)! There are some fun activities that you can do but the secret is that you’re better off playing with friends. WoW is a social game, remember. I’m lucky that I’ve got a great group of friends both within the guild and outside of the guild that I can hang out and blow up BGs with.
If you’re absolutely bored with WoW, then you may as well call it right now and not waste any more money playing something you don’t really want to play. Wait for the expansion when everyone resets. Kick back and relax for the summer.
On the other hand, maybe you’re bored of the players in your Guild. I know in hockey, sometimes the stars get bored of playing in their current team for so long that their performance suffers. Sometimes they need a change of scenery. A trade can work out for both parties involved and help jumpstart their career again. Perhaps it’s time for your relationship with your Guild to end and for you to move onto another organization if you’re feeling the depression. It’s not what you do, it’s who you play with. I’ve seen several bloggers uproot themselves from their original servers and transfer elsewhere.
As the months have passed, I’ve noticed several former prominent WoW bloggers disappear off my radar with absolutely no notice at all whatsoever. I don’t know whats happened to them or they’re even still around, but I wanted to take a moment and recognize their contributitions to our awesome community while they were still here. Since they haven’t posted in such a long time, it’s safe to assume that the blogs have been all but abandoned.
Girl Meets WoW – Awesome blog from a progression oriented mage. Last posted April 29th.
The Light and the Dark – One of the early Priest blogs that fell victim to that of real life. Last posted March 4th.
Trollin’ – – Another Shadow Priest blog that I’ve followed for the longest time. It had a lot of mathematics in it which made my head spin. I’ve seen Trollin’ around the area though. I’m not quite sure what kind of shenanigans he’s up to at at the moment. But he’s out there lurking!
This really is true. I’ve been bored of the raiding scene a long time, but when I play with friends, ripping up WSGs in our t6 or just taking guildies and friend’s on “Tulani’s Tours” (where I show everyone every weird place, easter egg, and wallhack in the game – ever been behind Org? How about on the skeleton bridge in UC that you fly over when you’re on a FP?)
I also found an amazing friend to level alts with. I could never level before, but once I teamed up with him, I have two characters in the 60s, and several in the 30’s to 40’s. I could level with him for days and never be bored.
However, I know for myself, a change of scenery was actually the nail in the coffin. At a certain point, it’s counterproductive to switch, because the effort you have to put into relearning everything you’ve known for months is hard. Meeting new people, getting used to new strats and leadership…however, it was actually worth it, looking back on it. I’ve made friendships I would have never had, and also, you learn who your “true WoW friends” are from your old server/guild, as they’re the ones you’ll still talk to months later.
Find something you enjoy, or just play when you play and don’t when you don’t want to.

I’m not good at motivating myself to write. I’ve contemplated jumping into the BA chat and trying to come up with stuff, but I always somehow manage to convince myself it wouldn’t work. I just need to find some inspiration.
It’ll definitely happen when I roll my troll deathknight….

Had a real life mate who we used to play with all the time finally quit. He’s been AFK for about 2 months and gave the executive order a few days ago. Bugger. In leaving he sharded almost all his gear, sold mats, and gave mats and gold away to those still playing.
I really hope he has the opportunity to return one day, as he’s a RL mate who now lives in another city. But then you have to respect a choice and support it, without applying guilt.
At least he didn’t play a healer. 🙂

Girl Meets Wow was the first ‘wow blog’ that I found.
I’ve found a lot of interesting blogs after this, but this one was so cool >.<
So sad that she disappeared 🙁
(sorry about my english =P)
*nods* the most feared monster in the game…summer.
If you’re anything like me you just start levelling alt nr 8 though >_<
Thanks Matt and Wyn for continuously posting, I much enjoy reading what you write. 🙂
It seems like a lot of raiders in my guild are taking some months off and will probably return when WotLK comes out. Many of the others, like myself, are wanting to push as far as possible in to the riad content before the expansion.
Tankettes last blog post..Leo 4, GBU 0 – Inner Demons 8, Tankette 1
I raided on my Warlock for a bit and got burnt out (outside of the guilds raid schedule not pairing well with my work schedule) so I rolled a Shaman. Raided with him up to Kara/Gruul level, got bored again and rolled a Moonkin which I currently raid with.. and getting bored again. I think I’m going to take a break until WOTLK and see where it goes from there.
Veresithas last blog post..Moving On Up Part 2
I too have let my old blog go, and created a new one, which my fellow guildmates have input on. Even if we only read it, we enjoy it.
As for the summer, yeah we have noticed it too on our server. There is a drop in tanks and healers all around for anything, and those that are on, only recently switched to that role, and have no clue. This is making me playing my alts hard, as it seems I am always tanking something, and never get to play my own game.
