“Possess a stable internet connection and a raid capable computer that will not explode”
We seem to not be very good at enforcing this requirement…
It’s a trick..don’t do it!
On the front page it says there are 6 comments here yet I only can see 2
It’s my spam filter.
What happens is that the front page logs any kind of comments, links, and trackbacks and displays it. But the spam filter prevents it from actually showing.
I wish that I could 🙁
I see the “* Are mature, over 16 years” requirement and I think of the many adult players I have encountered that are immature idiots vs my son and his friends that are 11 – 13 years of age and cause no guild drama or hassle and are solid raiders. Age does not equal maturity.
I really like this one though: “* Possess a working microphone and are not afraid to use it”. I’ve encountered a lot of players that can’t seem to use their mic or say their mic is broken. They only cost $15.

Sounds like it could be a great opportunity for someone. The recruiting officer side of my brain, however, would like you to define “part-time” position. Is this a 10% appointment, a 50% position or an 80% one? There’s a reason my guild doesn’t do these. When we recruit new people, we make all the raiders share bench time if there’s going to be benching involved. It keeps the happiness level up a bit.
Tankette: Yes, that may be true. But the nature of the conversations on vent make it a… courtesy that individuals be able to handle what is said. They need to be made of some tough stuff. We don’t want them crying to mommy because someone on our vent server said something bad and it’s just the nature of the guild. We don’t like to have to censor ourselves voluntarily or otherwise at the request of someone else.
Sydera: Unfortunately, part time will vary due to a lot of reasons. In this case, part time does not mean on the starting lineup. They have to be ready to go at a moments notice in case a player drops out. Sometimes we’ll give them advance warning. Our guild uses a “sign out” system. All the regulars are expected to show up and if they cant make a day, they report it on our forums. This way we can plan accordingly. Sometimes they may not raid for a week. Othertimes, we’ll lean on them the entire half a month. We’ll try to rotate new guys on farm bosses to help grab them some gear. Its an extremely flexible definition.
Well, people that use vulgar or abusive language on Vent are one example of the immature adults I am talking about. That said, I’m not going to stress if my kid hears a few expletives. As for crying to mommy, that’s not going to happen. Kids are tougher and whine a lot less than many of the adults in our guild. They also are smarter in many ways and have way more time to devote to the game. I guess my main point is each applicant to the guild should be judged by his or her merrits and not by something discriminatory, like age, gender, etc.
