I’ve inadvertently inspired several bloggers when I interviewed Phaelia many months ago. Herein lies the scenario:
Let’s hypothetically assume Blizzard goes out of business and decides to shut down their servers and WoW for good. You have 5 hours before the server shutdown is permanent. What would you do in 5 hours?
It’s reached the shared topic of the week for Blog Azeroth and I’ve inkling it might be discussed in this weeks Twisted Nether Blogcast.
What others have said:
(Don’t mind if I borrow the list from the TNB post, Fim ;))
What would Matt do?
Simple. I’d make like Madonna and try to save it. Matt ain’t no quitter.
EDIT: In pure blogging irresponsibility, I forgot to link to the original post by Larisa.
Yes but what would you do with the other 4 hours and 56 minutes?
Really, honestly, laughing out loud at Aurdon. 😀
Kick back and have a beer!
There was a very good article like this back in 2005 about AC2, that might be of some interest to those contemplating the topic…
“”Anybody out there?” I type, but I already know it’s pointless. There’s nobody anywhere near me. For almost an hour, I’ve been wandering around a desolate plain: Gray clouds scud slowly over rough quartz mountains, while a few birds wheel in the air near mushroom-shaped trees. I never see another living soul. It feels like the end of the world.
And in fact, it is. I’m inside Asheron’s Call 2, an online game that is scheduled to die in two weeks. It never acquired enough players to make it self-sufficient, so the game’s owner — Turbine — is going to do something that only happens rarely in the world of online play: On Dec. 30, it’ll flip the power off on the remaining servers, and an entire world will blink out of existence.”

You forgot Pink Pigtail Inn’s original post that started off the whole trend. >.<

Heh, ya know – walking away from a WoW addiction for the final time was a pretty hard thing to do; sometimes I feel bad about the people I left behind it was still for the best.
My last 5 hours on WoW? They were spent bickering, lol.
I guess if I was playing the game still and this all came around .. well i’d probably try to tell as many dick jokes as possible!
Make sure I reach as many people I can that I cannot reach otherwise 🙂 The game for me is still about having fun together with friends, loot is only a way to see more content together ^_^
Can you imagine what /2 trade would be like?
WoW servers being turned off in 5 hours? I’d make sure my guildies have my email address then logoff and go get drunk.

I didn’t feel a single reply would adequately cover my thoughts. So I worte it in my blog. http://iceboundfort.blogspot.com/2009/07/its-end-of-world-of-warcraft.html
Deep question. Thought provoking to be sure, and highly upsetting to consider.
