During the summer of 2007, I started World of Matticus. In the summer of 2008, I opened the PlusHeal discussion community for healers to take part and actively contribute their ideas for other players to learn from.
It is now spring of 2009.
Enter No Stock UI.
This will be a magazine style blog with a few notable bloggers around the community:
You can find out more about us if you’re interested! You’re also certainly welcome to contribute! We’re all UI enthusiasts at heart.
What’s the big idea?
No doubt some of you are wondering what’s the point in a UI blog. But some of the most passionate and heated blog posts stem from bloggers who write about their UI and different addons. Often times these useful posts are scattered, buried and tossed aside never to be read again.
Here at No Stock UI, our goal is to deliver compelling and quality content centering around your gaming experience. Topics will range from:
- Addons
- Macros
- User Interface
- Design
- Reviews
- Comparisons
To start with, the blog will be updated every Tuesday and Thursday. Hopefully we can pick up the pace as time goes on. Eventually, I’d like to see it get to the point where readers can get a new post everyday. One step at a time, right?
Our posts
- 4 Popular Heads Up Displays
- Why Aesthetics are Important
- 6 Nifty Addons You Might Not Know About
- 30+ FuBar Plugins You Can’t Live Without
- Where to Find Your New UI
- Killer Combinations: AuctionLite + Skillet + LilSparksWorks
- In Depth Analysis with Recount
Hope you’ll enjoy reading our posts as much as we loved writing them!
Matt, you never fail to surprise! Yet another project. Good luck man. Best to you, sir. 🙂
Derevkas last blog post..Previously Uploaded Videos and UI Download
Ok stupid little quibble
Could you possible have put a link to http://WWW.NOSTOCKUI.COM some were in the article
thks
Nice articles and I’ve added it to my feed, but what’s with the HUGE title? The headline of the article is barely visible on screen without scrolling down!
Congratulations to this new project! Great idea!
Being an UI-addict myself, I am really looking forward to the updates. I had a quick look at the side and have to say it looks very promising so far.
I also sort of missed a direct link in your article. 😉
Jarlas last blog post..Pausing.
Thanks for the heads up Matt on the new project. It should be interesting to read and review the new UI site. Will have to add it to my blogread list on site. So looking fed to it.
Galohearts last blog post..First Raid of Heroic OS
Thats totally awesome!
I’ve been enjoying all the UI posts on this blog recently, and will follow the new one as well. I already saw some new addons, or replacements for the ones I have, thanks so much Matticus!
Love the look. I’ve been looking for someone to start up a more UI focused site.
xabbotts last blog post..xabbott: I couldn’t resist the Ubisoft classic pack. Beyond Good & Evil, so good. Took some work to get it running in Vista64 though.
Nice project Matt. The first posts look like a great start. You WILL find me lurking there 🙂
I will visit, comment and annoy as always. I reached the point where I spend more time working on my UI than actually raiding, so my expectations are high.
What I would love to read:
-interviews with addon authors
-little step-by-step guides of how to set up addons (I know it’s quite a bit of work, but quite a large portion of wow players have not a real idea of addons and how to get them working)
-some help with basic .lua editing
-honest reviews of UI compilations including a little foreword by the guy behind the work.
-comparison of addons by category (barmods, unitframes) including really highlighting the pros and cons, not just listing them.
-fun articles. every addon that isn’t basically plug and play is prone to vanish in the geek corner, wrapping information in humor makes it stick in the head.
-pushing new addons. it’s not just the big names out there that are worth mentioning.
-meta-articles: e.g.: why you should donate for addons
What I don’t want to read:
-everything that I can learn by myself with google and 60 seconds of time
-articles that just repeat the description of an addon
drugs last blog post..When to make a Trial Member permanent
Very cool project. I don’t spend hours on my UI but I do like something that is both sharp looking and functional. Looking forward to all the great posts!
Aurdons last blog post..What Blizzard should do: Hire Better Guards
This will be great.. maybe I can get a UI that is 100% functioning at some point in the future…
One to add to your list…
A list of packaged UIs, that cater for more than wide-screen… I am still old school 17″, realestate is a premium, but most interfaces assume you have the widescreen tv hooked up.
Best of luck.. blog looks great!
Gnomeaggedons last blog post..WoW as a drinking game
Totally off the subject but I love the style and template used btw. Totally fits the content of the site and really gives me an impression it will handle “clean ui’s”. Superb choice 🙂
@drug Thanks for your suggestions! I know we have a number of your ideas in the works.
@zusterke Thanks! Matt chose it but I tweaked it a bit. Whatcha think of the logotype? >.>
This sounds like such a neat idea!
Let me know if you need any other contributing writers! ^^
Avernas last blog post..Socket bonuses and B stats on Ulduar gear
@Averna: Hey, this is a strictly volunteer outfit. It’s up to you if you want to contribute =D!
@Lilitharian: it’s sleek. I like it 🙂 Admitted.. I never would have thought of using pink but it’s suiting somehow.
I’m quite looking forward to this – my UI is quite frequently being tweaked, and this should prove more useful than merely browsing the ‘new updates’ section of WoWInterface.
KiwiReds last blog post..It’s The Little Things.
Great site and I have also added to my feeds, strange name though…keep up the good work 🙂
Love the new UI blog, especially the FuBar plugins post. Any chance in getting a bar mod post going? I’ve been looking for a good one.
